Brian Holohan, MSc, MA, BA(Hons), MIACP is Clinical Manager of The Couple Therapy Centre by Relationship Care and an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist, and supervisor with over 15 years’ experience working with individuals and couples. His clinical work focuses on gender, sexuality, suicide, and self-harm, and is grounded in a pluralistic approach to counselling and psychotherapy.

Alongside his clinical career, Brian brings over 30 years’ experience in operational and senior management roles in industry, informing his leadership and organisational work in mental health services.

In 2025, he was appointed to the board of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), where he serves as Company Secretary. He was also previously appointed by the Minister for Mental Health and Older People to the Special Group Panel of the National Implementation Monitoring Committee (NIMC), which oversees the implementation of Sharing the Vision: A Mental Health Policy for Everybody.

Brian is a lecturer and skills trainer on the BA(Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Dublin Business School. His academic and clinical interests centre on gender and sexuality, particularly within relational contexts. His MSc research explored the lived experiences of individuals with gender dysphoria and transgender identities, highlighting the value of a pluralistic approach in therapeutic practice.

He holds an MSc in Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy, an MA in Sexuality Studies, and a BA(Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy. He also holds a Professional Certificate in Couples Counselling, a Diploma in Addiction Psychology, and a Diploma in Counsellor Supervision. 

He is committed to inclusive, evidence-based practice that supports diverse identities and experiences.
