Alison Carey MSc, BA (Hons), Dip Clin Sup, MPsSI, GMBPsS, MAPCP, MAPA is an accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with over 15 years’ experience working with individuals and couples across a broad range of mental health and relationship issues. She works extensively with both individuals and couples and has particular expertise in relationship dynamics, emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed practice and contemporary relationship challenges.

Alison holds a first-class honours Master of Science (MSc) degree in Psychology, an honours bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and a Higher Diploma specialising in Relationship Counselling. She is currently undertaking PhD research in Social and Relationship Psychology, investigating how vulnerable populations experience rejection within mobile dating applications and contemporary digital relationship culture. 

Her therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-informed, drawing from a range of modalities including Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, neuro-affirmative practice and LGBTQIA+ and GSRD-informed interventions. Alison believes that lasting positive change and healing occur through the quality and safety of the therapeutic relationship itself. 

Alison supports clients across a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, panic, stress, self-esteem difficulties, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, self-harm, family and relationship difficulties, identity-related challenges and workplace stress. Her work with couples focuses particularly on communication difficulties, conflict resolution, intimacy and sexual concerns, infidelity, co-parenting challenges and strengthening emotional connection within relationships.
